What Kind of Judgement will you Face

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Galatians 2:6-9
A. God doesn't look at people the way we do. God isn't going to judge people the way we do. The way we judge others is by how they look, how they dress, what their position is in this world.
B. The non believer the person who has not accepted God’s free gift of salvation in the person of Jesus Christ is going to be judge for that rejection of God. But the person who has accepted Jesus is also going to be judge. They are going to be judged how faithful they were to what God called them to. Here Paul was faithful to the people he had been called to take the good news too and so was Peter.
C. God is also going to judge his followers far as if they obeyed him in what he told them to do. If Jesus is Lord of your life in some way and far as that issue goes he tells you to do something you can’t say no Lord because if you say no his Lordship is not running your life. For example if some person says they want to be a missionary. Then God calls them to Mexico they can’t say no Lord I don’t want to go to Mexico.
D. The child will also be judge for their relationship with God. Now when we receive Jesus the most important relationship in our lives has started which I believe can never be lost but you will be judge if you had an ongoing relationship with God. Did you live for him or did you fall back into sin that you didn't repent of. The good news is while we are living we can always repent of the sin in our lives and turn away from it.
Now when you die you are either going to be judged for rejecting God’s gift of salvation in Jesus or you are going to be judged what you did after you received salvation. Either way the answer is to go to Jesus. If you have never come to him today just ask him to come into your life. If you know Jesus but for whatever reason you aren't living for him repent. Tell Jesus you are sorry and with his help you are going to start living for him.

Job of Fathers and how Children Should Treat Them

Sunday, June 20, 2010
Happy Father’s Day to all of you fathers. I hope it a blessed and good one for you.
What job has God given to fathers and how should children treat them.
Ephesians 6:1-4 -
If you are still a child you need to do what your parents say or don’t do what they say not to do. As a youth worker it drives me nuts when kids have an attitude or aren’t respectful. Young people if you are ever that way I hope your father, or mother or whoever is raising you will get the paddle, belt, or wooden spoon and spank your butt good or ground you for along time.
Now there are times when children don’t have to obey their parents, young people if your parents ever tell you to sin you don’t have to obey them like I use to do youth parties at my old church for fifth/sixth graders and third through sixth grade boys. I told the children they needed do what us leaders told them to do and not to do what we told them not to do unless we tell you to rob a bank which of course we didn’t tell them to do. So young people if anyone ever tells you to sin including a leader, teacher you don’t have to and you shouldn’t obey them.
Vs. 4 Fathers you need to discipline your children. Now discipline doesn’t mean abuse. Discipline should show young people that if they do this or that this is what will happen. A TV show I like to watch is World’s Stricted parents. In the show they have two teens who don’t listen to their parents so they are sent to live with some other parents for a week. These other parents are strict unlike the real parents. They punish the children by making them do push ups, or digging a hole, or some other kind of work. The real parents take a lot from the kids but the strict parents don’t. Fathers you need to discipline your children when they don’t respect others or have an attitude. If your child gives somebody a hard time you should remind them by showing them the belt is not just for holding their pants up.
Fathers it is your job to lead your family spirituality. You should not only take your kids to Sunday School you should go too. You should lead the family in Bible study. You should show your kids it is cool to talk to God and about . It is primary your job to impact your kids for Jesus. Yes you should take them to a good Bible based youth group, church, and Sunday School but it is not the job of others to see your young people impacted for and with the good news.
If you have not had a good father the day you put your faith in Jesus God becomes your father. He loves you no matter what you do. God as your father will give you spiritual spankings but he will never abuse you.
A Blessed Fathers Day. Don’t if your father is living to wish him a happy Father’s Day I wish I could still do that to mine but at least I know where he is.

The Christian Life Is Impossible

Last week we looked at Gal. 1:10. This week we are going to remain in Gal. 1: and look at verses 11 and 12
Galatians 1:11-12 - reads 11I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. 12I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
So what can we learn from these verses?
A. The Christian faith and the gospel comes from God. I heard this preacher once say the Christian life isn't hard apart from Jesus Christ no the Christian life is impossible without having Jesus in your life. Where there is no Jesus there is no Christian life you can have a religious good moral life but not a Christian life apart from Jesus. Today there are a lot of man made gospels. What is a man made gospel anything that teaches that salvation comes through something or someone else besides the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. There are some including some churches that teach salvation comes through a church or doing good works. Eph. 2:8-9 It is by grace you have been saved through faith not by works so no one can boast.
B. another thing we can learn from these verses the key to somebody getting saved is the Holy Spirit of God showing them Jesus. We can teach people all the correct doctrine all the best church programs in the world but if God’s spirit doesn’t show one that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. The key to the Christian life is Jesus.

Standing for right or Trying Please Men

Gal. 1:10 Reggie White was a player in the NFL and much of his playing time was spent with the Green Bay Packers. He was not ashamed of his God or faith. I heard once at a Super Bowl breakfast he was called on to say grace. In that prayer Reggie shared God’s plan of salvation. After Reggie retired from the NFL he was given as a job by CBS. However then CBS discovered Reggie had spoken out against the homosexual lifestyle. Reggie didn’t preach hate but just what the Bible says. Reggie hated the sin but loved the sinner. If Reggie wanted to please men instead of God he could have told CBS he was wrong because when CBS found out what Reggie had preached they cancel their deal with him. So it cost Reggie his job but Reggie cared more about pleasing God than man. Then I think of Franklin Graham who has been attacked the last few years for teaching the truth about radical Islam. It cost him a speech that had been planned at the pentagon. You think the leaders of the pentagon would understand the dangers of radical Islam but they don’t. In all the TV spots where somebody has talked to Rev. Graham he has not backed down in pointing out the dangers of radical Islam at the same time while pointing out what is wrong with radical Islam he has said he wants people in that faith to come to know Jesus Christ as their savior. Graham and his ministry does a lot of work among the poor around the world meeting everyday needs and many of the souls they helped are followers of Islam. If Rev. Graham wanted to please men he would stop preaching the truth about Islam but he cares know about preaching the Lord and following what his word the Bible says. He knows what matters in the end is what God thinks not what man thinks.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQOstCSBuDM

Good News

Today lets look at Galatians 1:6-9. Those verses say....
6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
So what can we learn from these verses
1. Some spiritual leaders are not preaching the truth about Jesus and our need for him. Some have made the gospel about being rich, healthily, and a problem free life. I wonder what those who preach that would say to Paul or Job. Both of them went through hard times. The gospel is one thing and that is all of us have sinned but Jesus died for every sin and then rose from the dead to justified us if we will receive Jesus as our savior.
2. The Christian faith is a call to God. The true is the Christian faith is not a religious based faith but about a relationship with God through faith in Jesus. We can't earn salvation through doing a number of good things but we must turn to God. I heard a preacher once say the Christian faith is impossible without Jesus. No faith no Christian faith.
Well those are some things I see from those vereses.
